BREAKING: Royal Family Delighted as Buckingham Palace Announces Joyful News About a Rarely Seen Royal
Buckingham Palace has announced the joyful news that Princess Margaret’s grandson, Samuel Chatto, is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Eleanor Ekserdjian. The couple are both 29 years old and work as artists, living together in London.
Samuel’s parents, Lady Sarah and Daniel Chatto, and Eleanor’s parents are understood to be thrilled for the pair, who are thought to have met in 2021. King Charles has also been informed and is very happy for the couple. It has been confirmed that their wedding is planned for next spring. A talented artist, Sam made his fiancée’s engagement ring from porcelain.
In a post on Instagram alongside a carousel of images, Sam wrote: “I’m really delighted to say that Ellie and I are engaged. And we couldn’t be happier. I proposed with a porcelain ring which I made. @e.ekserdjian”.
It has long been expected that wedding bells wouldn’t be heard too far in the future for the couple as Eleanor was previously invited to join Sam and the rest of the Royal Family for Christmas at Sandringham.
The invitation is an honour typically reserved for serious partners or fiancées. This is one of the few times the public gets to see the royals en masse, as they walk from Sandringham House to church for the Christmas Day service.
Sam is the eldest of Princess Margaret’s four grandchildren. As well as him there is his younger brother, Arthur Chatto and their two cousins, Charles Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley and Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones.
His parents are Princess Margaret’s daughter Lady Sarah Chatto and her husband Daniel, who married in July 1994 and also have a younger son called Arthur.
Samuel David Benedict Chatto was born on July 28, 1996, in London, and like many members of his family, he was educated at Eton College. Upon leaving, he went on to study art history at the University of Edinburgh.
Sam Chatto earned an MA in History of Art from the University of Edinburgh in 2018 after attending the prestigious Eton College. Sam discovered a passion for creating art at a young age and pursued ceramics as a profession.
It is reported that he also completed a yoga teacher training course in India in 2019.
Less is known about his bride-to-be beyond the fact that she is also 29 and studied at the University of Edinburgh. However, it is not known if they met and began their relationship there.
Eleanor’s dad, Professor David Ekserdjian, is an art historian and serves as Professor of History of Art and Film at the University of Leicester.
Professor Ekserdjian is married to Susan Moore, art critic at the Financial Times.
She is a painter, and one of her pieces, titled ‘SAM’, was a sketch of her then-boyfriend, once displayed at The Gallery at Green & Stone’s summer exhibition.
