BREAKING: David Beckham is running for FIFA presidency, competing against Infantino
According to reports from the world press, former English football star David Beckham is being nominated to run for the FIFA presidency, competing against Gianni Infantino in the 2027 election.
After leading candidates successively withdrew from the race for the FIFA presidency in 2027, English legend David Beckham is being mentioned as a potential contender to challenge Gianni Infantino.
According to a report from Sky Sport , several key members of UEFA and the German Football Federation have suggested David Beckham as a strong candidate to challenge Infantino. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star possesses global fame and excellent managerial skills that are well-liked by many.
Furthermore, Beckham has strong connections to the American market, along with extensive links in international football, which could make him a strategic bridge between Europe and the CONCACAF region. This further enhances his value as a candidate.
However, Beckham’s candidacy still faces significant obstacles. According to Goal.com, the former English star maintains a close relationship with Infantino and regularly participates in official FIFA events and campaigns.
Currently, his name is only among the options being considered, and there has been no confirmation yet that he actually intends to run for office.
The electoral timeline is also a concern. The deadline for candidate registration is November 18, 2026, while the election is scheduled for March 18, 2027, in Rabat, Morocco. The main question is whether the opposition factions can rally support for a figure capable of challenging incumbent President Gianni Infantino.
