Just In: Andy Murray and wife Kim get brand new honour as life after tennis hits new high
The restaurant owned by tennis legend Andy Murray and his wife, Kim, has been recognised by Michelin. The Perthshire-based eatery has been named in the prestigious rating system’s latest guide. Cradle at Cromlix, near Dunblane, is among 22 restaurants added to the September update.
Murray has kept himself busy since calling time on his career in the summer of 2024. He has experienced a series of highs via business ventures and forays into tennis coaching. One of his primary endeavours, however, has been to throw himself into his hotel and restaurant by undertaking a major transformation of the five-star country house, which began at the start of this year.
The luxury hotel was first purchased by the two-time Wimbledon champion in 2013 for £1.8million. In 2023, Murray and his wife decided to take over the day-to-day management themselves.
The intimate 16-seat restaurant is led by executive head chef James Mearing. The Murrays’ hard work appears to have paid off, with Michelin calling the fine-dining establishment a “culinary crown jewel.
The Victorian hotel sits on 34 acres and Kim has been closely involved in its redesign as Cromlix expanded its food and drink menu. When the expansion and new restaurant plans were first announced late in 2025, she said: “I’m really excited about this next phase for Cromlix.
“The Glasshouse, our current restaurant, has been doing really well and is fully booked most of the time, but the space lacks a bit of personality and doesn’t deliver aesthetically.
We appointed a new executive head chef (James Mearing) earlier this year and he’s doing a great job, and it will be fantastic for him to put his stamp on this new food experience at Cromlix.”
Cromlix is far from Murray’s only business venture. He holds shares in the sportswear company Castore and is also an investor in Game4Padel, which installs and operates padel courts in the UK.
The couple are also set to star in a new television reality show. The unnamed Channel 4 production is slated to follow Murray and his partner as they navigate their new lives since his retirement. It’s understood that the programme will focus on their new enterprise as hotel owners.
Following his exit from professional tennis, three-time grand slam champion Murray joined the coaching staff of his former rival, Novak Djokovic, in a short-lived partnership. He has since partnered with British star Jack Draper, who endured an injury-hit season this year.
