In a fun Q&A session with Alex Eala at the US Open, the Filipino enthusiastically revealed all the red flags one needs to look out for when dating.

The 21-year-old, who was dressed in a dark grey Nike tee, pants, and a tight bun, revealed five to six warning signs one should look out for when getting to know someone.

“Insecurity. I can list! Not supporting the girl. Being scared. Not respectful. Doesn’t pay on the first date,” Alex Eala said.

The Filipino tennis professional has kept her personal and dating life private. She has not publicly confirmed being in a relationship.

During a recent interview, Eala opened up about her friendship with the Filipino-Canadian star Leylah Fernandez, who is half Filipino on her mother’s side. The 21-year-old defeated the defending singles DC champion Leylah Fernandez in the round of 16.

“My relationship with Leylah is pretty good. I think we’re friends. No, we’re friends. She’s a really great person.” Alex Eala said.

The World No. 18 also added that she tends to connect with people of Filipino heritage on tour, as it’s nice when people share the same cultural background.

On Friday, during Eala’s practice session with Naomi Osaka at the crowded Grandstand, a fair number of fans poured in to watch her play, in blue, red, and white. She then practiced beside World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz under Rafael Nadal’s former coach’s supervision. In a post-practice interview, the 21-year-old said:

At No. 18, Alex Eala is already the Philippines’ highest-ranked celebrity since former professional boxer Manny Pacquiao. After her recent success, the President of her country hosted a special reception to celebrate her first tour-level title at the DC Open.

Seeded No. 17, Eala’s US Open campaign will begin against American qualifier Mary Stoiana on Tuesday.
