SHOCKING: Queen Camilla admits she’s awful at one part of being a grandmother
The Queen has revealed one part of being a grandmother that she isn’t very good at. Queen Camilla has five grandchildren through her children with Andrew Parker-Bowles and gained five more when she married King Charles.
In the first episode of The Queen’s Reading Room Podcast, Camilla spoke about reading a beloved British book series to her grandchildren. She said: “I think the one I enjoyed reading more than anything else was Harry Potter.” Speaking at a literacy event for children, she said: “Sometimes, when we are with my husband in Scotland, he reads them Harry Potter. And he does all the voices, because he is a brilliant mimic.” She said that the King is a “brilliant” impressionist and puts on voices for every character when reading the series to her grandchildren. The Queen said on the Reading Room Podcast: “I can’t mimic voices for love or money, I’m completely hopeless at it. I was a really bad actor at school, and I’ve never been able to master the art of mimicry.
But (the King) sits down and they all sit with him. I always think they are going to be wriggling around in the bed, but they sit spellbound. He’s extremely good with children. They love it.”
Queen Camilla previously highlighted the King’s talent in a 2018 documentary celebrating his 70th birthday: Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70.
She said: “He will get down on his knees and crawl about with them for hours, you know, making funny noises and laughing, and my grandchildren adore him, absolutely adore him.
Queen Camilla has five grandchildren from her two children, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes. Tom has two children, Lola and Freddy, and Laura has three, Eliza, Gus and Louis.
King Charles also has five grandchildren from his two children, Prince William and Prince Harry. William has three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Harry has two: Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Queen’s Reading Room is a charity launched by Queen Camilla to encourage literacy through a book club. The charity held a festival at Chatsworth last year and will return again this summer.
