‘I will not be silenced’ – Lewis Hamilton refuses to back down in Charles Leclerc feud as furious fallout rages on
LEWIS HAMILTON will not back down in his tensions with Charles Leclerc as he roared “I will not be silenced.”
Ferrari’s fallout from Sunday’s Mexico City Grand Prix rumbled on ahead of the race in Sao Paulo this weekend.
Hamilton was left absolutely livid, as Monegasque driver Leclerc cut the chicane on the first lap to take the lead from the Brit.
Hamilton stressed how if the Ferraris had worked together in that moment they could have finished one-two on the podium instead of second for the Brit and fourth for Leclerc.
In that moment, Hamilton lost second place to Max Verstappen as a result of Leclerc’s move and the Dutchman went on to win the race.
During a red flag period towards the end of the race, Hamilton announced over team radio that Ferrari had “big problems.”
And after the race he hit out at Leclerc’s “do or die” approach, saying “serious talks” were needed within the team.
The seven-time world champion stood by what he said in Thursday’s media sessions in Brazil.
He also revealed that internal talks had not yet taken place due to team principal Fred Vasseur returning to Europe and Leclerc joining his wife Alexandra for the birth of their first child.
When asked if he was worried how the team might view his comments, Hamilton said: “I don’t really care what anyone thinks about what I said, I wear my heart on my sleeve and I say how I feel in the moment.
I did see something that someone was saying that it’s calculated the things that I’m saying and I just want to combat that with the fact that when you’re in the race your heart rate is like 170, you’re driving 200 miles per hour,
“You don’t have time to be calculated what you’re saying and thinking what you’re saying the media are going to write about.
“You don’t think about that, usually your frustration comes out towards the people in your team, particularly the bosses about decisions.”
