David Beckham’s Heartwarming Encounter With a 5-Year-Old Son With Down Syndrome Leaves Fans in Tears — The Emotional Moment That Touched Hearts Around the World
David Beckham scored a winning goal with this adorable fan meet-up.
The former soccer star met longtime fan Huddy Droubay, a 5-year-old influencer whose mom Melanie Droubay chronicles his life online on their account Adventures with Huddy, and their day together will certainly melt your heart.
“I have no words,” Droubay’s mom wrote in an Oct. 28 Instagram post. “Just tears in my eyes.”
Sporting a custom Inter Miami CF jersey, Droubay—a native to Utah—was seen heading into the locker room to greet the Manchester United alum.
Visibly nervous at first, Droubay hesitantly approached the athlete, who gave him a high-five and then squatted down to the child’s level to give him a huge hug.
Later, Beckham guided him over to Lionel Messi’s locker, where Droubay sat in the Miami player’s prep chair and tried on the team captain arm band.
In a separate video, Beckham and Droubay hit the pitch. As Droubay’s mom yelled words of encouragement in the background, Beckham helpfully guided the young kid across the field as he kicked a soccer ball into the goal.
After her son scored, Droubay mused in a text overlay on the video, “Dreams do come true.”
For his part, Beckham—dad to Brooklyn, 27, Romeo, 24, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 15, with wife Victoria Beckham—also shared a glimpse into Droubay’s big moment walking through the tunnel hand-in-hand with Messi as the team prepared to take on FC Cincinnati.
“Tonight was a night to remember for us all in Miami,” Beckham wrote in an Oct. 28 Instagram post. “We had a very special guest come and visit us with the biggest smile and the warmest heart. Thank you to Huddy’s Mom, dad and brothers for sharing these special moments with us. Mr. David was very happy.”
Earlier this month, Droubay’s mom revealed that her son would get the opportunity to meet Beckham while filming her son’s reaction.
Are you excited?” Droubay’s mom asked him, before he instantly responded, “Yes I am!”
He added, “See you soon, Mr. David!”
“Huddy is so excited and it’s all we can talk about in our house lately,” Droubay’s mom added in the caption. “The Inter Miami game is going to be so much fun.”
In another video ahead of his family’s trip, Droubay proved he was putting in the work on the soccer field ahead of meeting the legend.
“Watch this, Mr. David,” Droubay said in another video his mom shared to Instagram, before scoring a goal in his family’s backyard. “Goal! I did it!”
