“Everyone knows the answer” – Tennis insider drops truth bomb after ATP star claims he can disgrace US Open Elena Rybakina
Elena Rybakina’s US Open victory has been followed by an unexpected debate after ATP player Ignacio Buse made a bold claim about facing the three-time Major champion. Rybakina saw off Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 to clinch her second Grand Slam title of the season.
After Rybakina’s recent win, the Peruvian tennis star Buse admitted that he would defeat the new WTA Major champion. His comments were seen as poor taste by fans. However, the director of the tennis website Puntodebreak, Jose Moron, rallied behind Buse, stating that the topic has already been discussed before and everyone is aware of the physical difference in men’s and women’s tennis.
“Buse is taking some serious heat for saying in a stream that he would beat Rybakina or that a 1000 ATP player would beat her too,” Moron wrote. “I find it stupid that every so often this debate pops up, when it last came out just last December. There’s no need. Everyone knows the answer. If they want to bring it up, it’s for two reasons: because they want to downplay women’s tennis or because they want relevance, knowing that those topics go viral right away.”
He highlighted the former World No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam champion Garbine Muguruza’s quotes, where she acknowledged that male tennis players are much stronger than female players. He opined that the physical difference is already acknowledged by female players, but when a male player mentions the same thing, it gets more attention.
Rybakina’s victory came three weeks after she was forced to retire mid-match at the Cincinnati Open quarterfinals, where she suffered a leg injury.
