BREAKING: Andy Murray Left Speechless as Jack Draper Withdraws From the US Open, with the Tennis Star’s Injury Nightmare Continuing

Britain’s Jack Draper has withdrawn from the upcoming US Open as his torrid injury luck continues.

The former world No. 4 has been struggling with bone bruising in his left arm for the last year and has dropped outside of the top 140.

Draper, 24, also missed Wimbledon due to his ongoing arm injury and has dropped outside of the top 140 after spending the better part of a year on the sidelines.

The Sutton-born star returned at the Canadian Open, where he broke down in tears during the latter stages of his first-round defeat to Terence Atmane.

Draper then lost to Martin Landaluce in the first round of the Cincinnati Open, dropping the last five games in a row to bow out 6-3 7-5.

Draper’s ranking was not high enough to reach the main draw of the US Open and he was expected to go through the qualifying rounds next week unless he was given one of the remaining two main draw wildcards.

It is currently not known when Draper will return to competition, but he has not been named in Britain’s Davis Cup squad for their tie in London in September.

Draper’s withdrawal comes hot on the heels of the decision of Jannik Sinner not to take part in the US Open, ruling himself out because of a knee injury.

“Even though I have been working hard with my team and my medical staff, we have now had to make the difficult decision that I will not be able to compete at the US Open this year.,” he said.

“We have been back on court in Monte Carlo over the last couple of days and have realised that I still need more time to recover from my right knee issue.

I’m obviously very sad and disappointed, as New York has a special place in my heart.

“I was very much looking forward to coming back and playing in the electric atmosphere in front of the great fans there.”

While Sinner will not be competing, Carlos Alcaraz will. Alcaraz is set to make his return from an injury of his own, having recovered from a wrist problem that ruled him out of the French Open and Wimbledon.
