Just In: Fresh disaster for Sarah Ferguson as ex-Duchess could face huge legal bill
Sarah Ferguson is allegedly faced with a new crisis after a company’s £19million collapse, it has been claimed. The former Duchess of York served as an executive director of the theatre investment company Gate Ventures from 2017 until 2019.
The firm is embroiled in a financial crisis involving “unexplained” loans of more than £500,000 it made, The Sun reports. Gate Ventures fell into administration in 2020 after losing £19million, and according to the outlet, a liquidator’s report from May this year states that investigators believe a “substantial recovery” will be made for out-of-pocket investors.
If that were to happen, Fergie, as she is otherwise known, could face a huge legal bill that could “force her to declare bankruptcy”.
Ms Ferguson’s representatives declined to comment.
The former Duchess’s financial struggles came into the spotlight this year after emails between her and convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein were released by the US.
In the documents released by the US Department of Justice, Ms Ferguson could be seen telling Epstein to “just marry me,” six months after he was released from prison.
The particular email, released without context, was sent in January 2010.
The disgraced sex offender had been released from Palm Beach County Jail in July 2009, having served 13 months of an 18-month sentence for soliciting sex minors.
Fergie appeared to be writing in the email: “You are a legend. I really don’t have the words to describe, my love, gratitude for your generosity and kindness. Xx I am at your service. Just marry me.”
In another email, in May 2010, Ms Ferguson can be seen emailing Epstein, telling him: “But why I don’t understand, don’t you just get me to be your House Assistant. I am the most capable and desperately need the money. Please Jeffrey think about it.”
Fergie has never commented on the latest batch of emails released.
