Breaking News: Tennis Fans Get Emotional as Sir Andy Murray’s Family Donates Treasured Possession to Wimbledon Museum

Tennis fans around the world have been left deeply moved after the family of British tennis legend Andy Murray donated one of his most treasured possessions to the museum at The Championships, Wimbledon. The heartfelt gesture has sparked an outpouring of emotion among supporters who have followed Murray’s remarkable career for more than a decade.

SIR Andy Murray’s family have gifted a collection of press clippings to Wimbledon museum charting his career.

The retired tennis ace’s grandad Roy Erskine spent 20 years lovingly compiling the 55-volume tome.

Sir Andy’s mum Judy, 66, confirmed they will go on display at the All England Club’s Lawn Tennis Museum following her father’s death.

She told how ex-footballer Roy started collecting cuttings when Andy, now 38, was a 17-year-old starlet.

Tennis coach Judy, from Dunblane, Perthshire, said: “Little did proud grandpa know this would be the first of 55 albums featuring all the highs and lows.”

They feature coverage of Sir Andy’s US Open triumph in 2012.

They also include reports that followed his Wimbledon singles title wins in 2013 and 2016.

Senior museum curator Emma Traherne hailed the “devotion” behind the collection.

And she described it as “truly special”.

She added: “Roy’s curation is testament not only to Andy’s achievements, but to a grandfather’s enduring pride and love.

We told how Roy died on January 19 at 94.

Wife Shirley passed away just nine days later.

Devoted fan Roy previously spoke fondly of Andy’s career. He said: “He was obviously going to be quite good.

“But no one knew how good.”
