Breaking News: David Beckham’s ex-team-mates have revealed what Victoria is like amid Brooklyn spat

Brooklyn Beckham sent shockwaves outward this week with an explosive Instagram post targeting his parents. The 26-year-old levelled claims that David and Victoria had been “controlling” towards him, whilst also alleging Posh had “danced inappropriately” with him during his wedding celebrations.

However, Manchester United and England legend David is well aware of what certain former team-mates think about his wife. Speculation about tensions within the Beckham family has circulated since Brooklyn’s 2022 nuptials to actress Nicola Peltz.

Missed birthday acknowledgements and purported social media blocking incidents preceded the couple’s eldest son publishing a damning online statement directed at both parents. He claimed mother Victoria had attempted to “ruin” his relationship with Peltz, “hijacking” his first dance with her at the wedding and leaving him feeling “humiliated” through the “inappropriate” dancing.

Reports indicate Victoria has been left devastated by her son’s public accusations. Husband David has addressed the accusations made against him and his wife, though two of his former England team-mates have previously offered insight into Victoria’s genuine character.

Wayne Rooney is himself a United legend, though he never shared the pitch with David at Old Trafford. He did, however, earn 39 caps for his country alongside the midfielder.

During an episode of The Wayne Rooney Show, the 40-year-old was asked whether he’d ever spent time with the Beckham family, prompting him to share a memory from David’s spell at Real Madrid when he and Coleen visited their home for a meal.

We met up with Becks and Victoria, me and Coleen, when he was at Madrid and went for dinner and we were having kebabs,” Rooney recalled. “He’s obviously a great lad and Victoria’s such a lovely woman and funny. A lot funnier than people would think.”

Michael Owen also played alongside David for England and made several appearances with him at Real Madrid. One particular episode following the 1998 World Cup offers insight into how fiercely Victoria defends her husband, especially after a difficult tournament for Beckham.

Both Owen and Beckham were integral to the England side that progressed to the knockout stages that year, before a dramatic clash with Argentina. Beckham was controversially dismissed in the eventual penalty shoot-out defeat following a kick directed at Diego Simeone.

Owen’s campaign was impressive by comparison. He netted the second goal against Argentina and successfully took his penalty. Meanwhile, Beckham became public enemy number one following his red card.

In his autobiography, Owen reveals he subsequently discovered Victoria was upset with him for failing to defend David publicly after the dismissal. The story illustrates Victoria’s unwavering loyalty to her husband and family.

“I got wind that Victoria was in some way disappointed in me,” Owen wrote. “She felt, I was told, that while all the attention was on me after the World Cup, I should have publicly and voluntarily come out and backed David.

I didn’t consider myself senior enough to pat David Beckham – twenty times more famous than I was at the time – on the back and say, ‘Keep your chin up, mate’. Whether I thought his actions lost us the game or not didn’t matter. For me, at that time, it was about hierarchy and standing. I was just a junior member of that squad. I was really just a kid.
