“I don’t understand” – Tennis insider questions Jannik Sinner’s continued silence on injury updates in face of silent doping ban rumours
Tennis insider Gill Gross recently questioned the lack of injury updates from Jannik Sinner. In face of the Italian’s continued silence on the matter despite rumours of a silent doping ban, the broadcaster expressed his confusion about the World No. 1’s continued silence.
Sinner was last seen in action at the Wimbledon Championships. While there, the 25-year-old successfully defended his title, but he has been sidelined by a knee injury since then. Most recently, the five-time Major winner announced that he was ending his 2026 season early due to continued trouble with his injury, but the tennis star refrained from providing any details about the issue and his silence on the matter fueled rumours of a silent doping ban.
Recently, Gill Gross weighed in on the situation and expressed his confusion about Jannik Sinner‘s refusal to provide updates about his knee, saying in an episode of the Mailbag podcast,
“If I were advising Jannik, if I were his PR guy, if I were his agent, I would tell him to give us a little bit more. Maybe he doesn’t care about what the online sentiment is, what the message boards are saying, all the social media garbage and the comments sections. It’s pretty easy to get that stuff to go away. Not completely, but you can take a big chunk out of it if you just operate with some transparency, and I for one do not understand the downside to it.”
Gross went on to point out the upsides of letting people in, adding,
“I think the upside is you get people to stop speculating about things like a shadow ban or something like that. I’m not understanding the downside of just letting people in and saying what’s going on.”
Gross is best known as a tennis analyst and commentator who has previously worked with the Tennis Channel, US Open Radio and more. The American is currently the host of the ‘Monday Match Analysis’ podcast
