💔 “FAME WON’T LAST FOREVER!” — Alex Eala Faces Brutal Fan Backlash After Shocking Wuhan Open Defeat to World No. 217, Leaving Supporters Heartbroken and Her Next Move Under the Spotlight
Alex Eala suffered another exit in the Asian swing, going out in the second round of the Wuhan Open. The youngster suffered a three-set loss against home favorite and World No. 217 Han Shi.
The Filipino has now lost both the matches that she has played in Asia, having earlier been beaten in her first match at the Singapore Open as well. Tennis fans were quick to take note of the poor results.
An X user sent out a cautionary message, asking Eala to be more consistent or risk losing her newfound fame. Others were more critical, describing the youngster as “overhyped” and “consistent” at losing to lower-ranked players.
“Be serious Alex Eala. Otherwise fame will fade away soon,” a post read.
“I like Eala, since DC open, at least she’s been consistent , always losing to the lower ranked players, players ranked 54, no. 86, no. 150, and now 200. Consistency is good,” another added.
“Alex Eala is most overrated, overhyped WTA player by far,” a third post read.
A section of fans took a deeper dive into Eala’s form, noting that she has not been able to post any good result since the US Open. Another noted that she had traditionally performed poorly at tournaments played in China.
“Alex Eala’s game hasn’t looked the same since that US Open loss to Iva Jovic. The confidence and the consistency is just… nowhere to be found. I guess… R2 at Wuhan Airport I fear,” a fan wrote.
“Alex Eala must not love China that much she wants to be out of there as soon as possible,” another added.
