“What the heck?” – Carlos Alcaraz reacts in shock after receiving unexpected marriage proposal at Laver Cup
Carlos Alcaraz was visibly taken aback by a surprise marriage proposal that came his way at the 2026 Laver Cup. Alcaraz is making his third successive appearance at the Roger Federer-backed men’s team tennis tournament, and is the most high-profile player in Team Europe’s ranks as it aims to win the title for the sixth time.
On the second day of action at this year’s Laver Cup at London’s O2 Arena, Alcaraz and Team World’s Taylor Fritz produced a memorable contest, with the former World No. 1 Spaniard winning the singles encounter 6-3, 4-6, 13-11. The result helped the Spaniard avenge his loss to the American at last year’s Laver Cup in San Francisco, where Team World won the title for the third time.
After the result, the career Grand Slam winner was interviewed by American former ATP star Sam Querrey on the court. Querrey asked Alcaraz how he manages to maintain a smile even during the most stressful on-court situations. Just as the 23-year-old Spaniard was about to answer, a male fan in the stands yelled:
“Marry my sister Carlos!”
Turning in the general direction the yell came from, a rather shocked but smiling Carlos Alcaraz said:”What the heck?”
The 26-time ATP Tour-level singles titlist added:
“I’m too young still. Well, I just… What was the question sorry?”
The lighthearted moment left Alcaraz, Querrey as well as the rest of the people in attendance in splits
