“Whatever it takes” – Carlos Alcaraz sends warning to Taylor Fritz & Co. As Spaniard prepares for revenge at Laver Cup
Carlos Alcaraz has sent a warning to the Team World contingent, including Taylor Fritz, ahead of the 2026 Laver Cup. The Spaniard made it clear that he wants Team Europe to reclaim the trophy this year. In 2025, Team World registered a 15-9 victory to clinch its third Laver Cup crown, even though the Europeans had at-the-time World No. 1 Alcaraz and No. 3 Alexander Zverev in their ranks.
After his arrival in London for this year’s edition of the Roger Federer-backed men’s team tennis tournament dedicated to the great Rod Laver, Alcaraz said:
“We will do everything possible to bring the title back to Europe. We failed last year, so we’ll do everything we can to reclaim the trophy.”
Carlos Alcaraz made his Laver Cup debut two years ago. Here, the Spaniard produced a series of virtuoso performances, which led to Team Europe winning the tournament for the fifth time.
Alcaraz scored the decisive win, beating Taylor Fritz of Team World in straight sets to give the Europeans the trophy after their opponents’ two-year stranglehold on the silverware, which also included the 2022 edition of the event, where its backer, the legendary Roger Federer, bid an emotional farewell to his stellar playing career in front of his greatest rivals.
