“Another victim of the Roger Federer money laundering scheme” – Fans react as Kylian Mbappe makes huge move from Nike to On
Swiss maestro Roger Federer faced backlash after Kylian Mbappe ended his long-term partnership with Nike to become On’s new face. The 20-time Grand Slam champion joined the Swiss brand in 2019 and received the firm’s equity.
Ben Shelton, a 2026 US Open finalist, has worn On’s apparel and shoes. The company onboarded French and Arsenal star Thierry Henry as Director of Football for brand expansion.
According to The Athletic, Mbappe has been handed equity in the Swiss company; however, On declined to comment on the ownership reports. In a statement, On said that Mbappe “will be at the heart of On’s football journey, uniting one of football’s defining players with one of sportswear’s most innovative brands.”
“He will work directly with On’s product teams, integrating his elite perspective into the development and testing of future football footwear and apparel. He will also become a global ambassador for On, extending the partnership beyond football into movement, performance and contemporary design,” the brand added.
Fans weighed in on Mbappe joining On, a brand where Roger Federer is a key shareholder, instead of Adidas, Puma, or new upstarts New Balance and Skechers.
Roger Federer opens up about possibility of a comeback in tennis
On the tennis front, former World No. 1 Roger Federer dazzled during the exhibition match at the 2026 US Open. The question arose during a press conference after tennis legend Serena Williams ended a four-year hiatus by returning to action at the Queen’s Club earlier this year.
The Swiss maestro denied all rumors, stating his body doesn’t have enough energy to compete in the gruelling ATP season.
Federer, the Swiss sensation, a 103-time ATP singles title winner, hung up his boots to mark an end to his glorious 24-year career. Federer made his last appearance with his long-time arch-rival and friend Rafael Nadal in a doubles match at the Laver Cup in London.
