“Attacked for my sexual orientation” – Martina Navratilova’s wife horrified after facing anti-LGBTQ threats in Florida University

Martina Navratilova’s wife, Julia Lemigova, was left horrified after facing anti-LGBTQ threats at Florida International University, which raised concerns about the safety of students on campus. She revealed that during one of her recent visits to Florida International University, she was harassed and targeted because of her sexual orientation.

She shared a few glimpses of the alarming moment on campus and stated that she was shocked that people were allowed on campus to confront LGBTQ+ students, which she felt was unsafe.

“It’s 2026, and this is still happening!!! Being attacked and harassed for my sexual orientation at Florida International University,” Lemigova wrote.

Lemigova called the incident “absolutely insane,” highlighting that although she laughed it off at the time, the incident was scary.

“My POV of these men attacking students…this is absolutely insane that this is happening and that the campus is allowing these men to come in and attack us students for being a part of the LGBTQ community. This is supposed to be a safe place for students!!! I laughed it off but this is scary for anyone!!”

Lemigova and Martina Navratilova got married in New York City on December 15, 2014.
