Jamie Murray was a successful doubles player, winning two Grand Slam titles and reaching world number one.
But he never hit the heights of his brother, Andy Murray, in singles.
Despite being a top junior prospect, Jamie Murray failed to deliver on that potential.
During a video posted on ‘The Set‘ YouTube channel, Andy Murray shared what went wrong for his older brother in singles.

The Murray brothers were testing 100 years of tennis rackets and quickly discovered that Jamie Murray’s forehand speed remained consistent regardless of the equipment used.
“My forehand was a catastrophe of a shot,” said Jamie Murray.
Andy Murray then explained how and why his brother’s forehand broke down.
“When he was like 12, he went from being one of the best players in Europe, he was in the top three behind Rafael Nadal and Richard Gasquet,” he said.
And he moved to a training base in England, and within six months they tried to change his forehand, and he never found it again.
“He basically got the yips on his forehand from 12 years old and never recovered it.
“So that’s why, regardless of the equipment, he can’t swing the racket properly.
“It’s amazing that he ended up doing what he did in tennis, but his singles career was done, because he couldn’t hit a forehand, couldn’t generate any power
Jamie Murray’s forehand wasn’t nearly as exposed in doubles as it was in singles, allowing him to flourish in the discipline.
He won two Grand Slams in doubles and five in mixed doubles, and also played a major role in Great Britain’s Davis Cup win in 2015.

Back in 2005, as he was making his breakthrough, Andy Murray blamed the LTA for his brother’s struggles.
My brother is very talented,” he said, according to ‘The Telegraph‘.
“He was number two in the world when he was around the age of 13, and then he went down to an LTA school in Cambridge, and they ruined him for a few years. It was their fault.
“But I really want him to come back and do well because he is a good guy and he works very hard.
“He wants to be a tennis player, and I think he has shown he has the talent.”
