Misogynistic Bullsh*t’ – Tennis World Left Divided as Martina Navratilova Gets Furious Over Aryna Sabalenka Facing ‘Masculine’ Allegations Amid Trans Athlete Debate
The WTA’s updated Women’s Eligibility Policy has divided the community, but Aryna Sabalenka and Martina Navratilova are among the some of the most notable proponents of the mandatory gender tests. The new rules switch the criteria from managed hormone levels to a strict definition based on biological sex.
With Sabalenka backing the move during a press conference at the Canadian Open, an increasing number of fans have taken to social media with their two cents on the issue. Many of them have been critical of the World No. 1’s views, calling them “hypocritical”.
Navratilova, however, quickly jumped to Sabalenka’s defence, replying to one of the posts. Noting that Sabalenka had every right to comment on the issue as the World No. 1, she urged X users not to attack tennis players with what she described as “misogynist bullsh*t”. In another reply to a publication’s article on Sabalenka’s comments, she called for “better reporting” on such sensitive issues.
“Try again. She has every right to speak about an issue that could directly affect her and her sport and she is a woman- stop shaming strong women with your misogynist bullsh*t!,” Martina Navratilova wrote in her reply.
“Can you not report this correctly???? Aryna never mentioned trans anything. And no trans athlete is banned from sports. Try again, Toronto Sun!!!!” she wrote in another post.
