BREAKING: Tennis Fans Stunned as Camila Giorgi Makes a Shocking Announcement After Her Controversial Silent Retirement in 2024

Camila Giorgi has just shared that she plans to return to pro tennis in 2027.

If you can recall, Giorgi silently retired two years ago. After losing to Iga Swiatek in the 2024 Miami Open second round, the former world 26 didn’t play any tournaments for the next two months. Then, in May, it was revealed that the Italian removed herself from the ITIA’s anti-doping testing pool. And that’s how the public learned that the four-time WTA champion decided to leave tennis.

On Instagram, Giorgi held a Q&A session with fans.

“Will you come back to tournament tennis in the future?” one fan asked, to which she replied: “Yes, in 2027.”

Another fan asked: “Are you sure you’ll come back to play on the WTA circuit? And if so, when?”

She responded by giving the same answer, saying: “Yes, in 2027.”

Giorgi found herself in controversy after silently retiring from tennis
Shortly after Giorgi retired, Italian media reported that the former world No. 26 fled Italy because she was chased by Italian tax authorities. Also, a Tuscany villa landlord accused the Italian and her family of leaving without paying rent, damaging furniture and even stealing stuff from the house.

However, when asked about it, the 34-year-old laughed it off.

“It was not an escape. I moved to America permanently with my parents. The problems with the tax authorities? My family did not know about them. They were created by outside people who managed me and did this as a job. We did not flee for tax reasons. I never fled, I never spoke,” the four-time WTA champion said last year while attending an event in Venice.

Before abruptly walking away from tennis, Giorgi held a 3-6 record in 2024.

Giorgi will celebrate her next birthday in December so she will be 35 when she returns to the Tour next year.
