Following King Charles and Queen Camilla’s visit to the United States, speculations of tensions between the Queen and Kate Middleton have reignited.
Royal insiders claim that as Camilla has become determined to protect her position within the monarchy amid the Princess of Wales’ popularity, she returned from the tour feeling more confident after receiving public attention alongside Charles.
An insider tells Closer Magazine, “Camilla is like the cat that ate the canary. Everywhere she and Charles went on this tour they were treated like absolute rock stars.”
“They’re coming off this tour feeling triumphant, everyone is praising them for how well they represented the U.K. and all the goodwill they created in America between the two countries. Camilla had quite a few moments herself, she did her share of speeches and events and by all accounts it was a huge success,” they added.
The Queen reportedly spent a lot of time “worrying” about Kate being “much more well-loved.” However, she is said to be “totally changed” now as she believes she’s “just as popular as Kate is.”
The tensions between the two reportedly escalated after Camilla delivered four-word warning to Kate Middleton: “We’re not going anywhere.”
As per the sources, the remark meant to reinforce that neither King Charles nor Queen Camilla plans to step aside anytime soon, despite public interest in the future reign of Prince William and Kate.
“They’ve had this uneasy truce for quite some time but her view is that it’s best to get things out in the open and let Kate know who is boss rather than dance around it,” the source said.
Adding, “She’s even gone so far as to take Kate aside to tell her she and William need to cool their jets because she and Charles have no plans to step aside. She’s very pleased and it gave her the boost she needed to warn Kate off.”
On the other hand, sources revealed that the Princess of Wales has “no interest” in taking Camilla’s place.
The source said, “In fact, she’d be the first to tell you that she hopes Charles and Camilla have a long and healthy reign. All she wants to do is help them and serve the Crown the best way she can. Even in the face of Camilla’s fears Kate is continuing to handle things with her trademark grace.”
“Although she accepts Kate is an asset, Camilla feels threatened. And of course this is all coming at the same time that Charles is having his own power struggles with William,” they added
