Breaking News: Sarah Ferguson receives shocking News as she braces for new royal drama

Sarah Ferguson is set to face a fresh headache after her latest fall from grace last year, as a new bombshell documentary about one of the scandals she was involved with will air this week. Fergie and the Fake Sheikh Scandal focuses on an incident from 2010, when the former Duchess of York appeared to have been taped offering News of the World journalist Mazher Mahmood, who posed as a fake sheikh, access to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was then a trade envoy, in exchange for £500,000.

She was secretly taped saying: “That opens up everything you would ever wish for. I can open any door you want, and I will for you. Look after me and he’ll look after you … you’ll get it back tenfold.”

She later apologised, saying: “I very deeply regret the situation and the embarrassment caused.

It is true that my financial situation is under stress however, that is no excuse for a serious lapse in judgment and I am very sorry that this has happened.

“I can confirm that The Duke of York was not aware or involved in any of the discussions that occurred. I am sincerely sorry for my actions.”

Buckingham Palace declined to comment at the time, but the sting operation caused a media storm.

The new, 60-minute documentary, made by Naked (a Freemantle label) and Krempelwood, will feature archive footage, candid testimony, and various insights, including from biographers, historians and journalists to provide insight into the scandal.

An announcement read: “Sarah Ferguson has lived much of her life in the public eye, attracting immense media attention.

This gripping documentary delves into the allegations made in an undercover film of Mazher Mahmood posing as the notorious ‘Fake Sheikh’ in which it appeared that the former Duchess of York was allegedly offering access to the former Prince Andrew in exchange for £500,000.”

Fergie and the Fake Sheikh Scandal will air on January 17, 9.20pm on Channel 5.
