A Heartbreaking Moment: Kate Middleton admits ‘I’m really bad’ as she shares disastrous mum moment
Kate Middleton often taps into her creative side, taking part in art projects while on royal engagements.
The mum-of-three also often shows off her talent for photography by taking portraits of her family.
While the Princess of Wales was seemingly good at everything she attempts, there is one craft she couldn’t quite master.
Kate admitted that when she tried her hand at knitting several years ago, it ended in disaster.
She revealed that when she had eldest child, Prince George, she wanted to make him something ‘special’ to wear, but it didn’t go to plan.
Hello! reports that while visiting Glasgow, she told a group of royal fans: “I’ve been trying to knit and I’m really bad. I should be asking for tips!”
She revisited the story in 2020, during a trip to Bradford, the Mirror reports.
While meeting members of Older Yet Wiser – an organisation that supports grandparents – who were showing off their impressive crocheting skills, Kate said: “I tried knitting when I first had George.
“I tried to knit him a very special jumper, but I got halfway down and it splattered. It’s such an amazing skill.”
Kate is still getting involved in crafts during her royal visits, most recently joining a group of children for messy play at a children’s hospice.
She joked “the messier it is, the better the fun” as she helped youngsters make imaginary cakes with plasticine and flour.
In September, Kate also tried her hand at fabric printing during a trip to Marina Mill in Kent.
She donned an apron as she was shown how the fabric is dried and then transferred, before she got her hands dirty to print her own fabric.
