10 Minutes Ago: Andrew Receives Heartbreaking News as new neighbours make feelings brutally clear about house move
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s neighbours have expressed their fury over the location of the disgraced royal’s new home on the Sandringham estate. On Monday, the former prince finally moved out of his lavish former property, the £30m Berkshire mansion Royal Lodge, marking the end of an arduous two-year deadlock with his brother, King Charles, over the occupancy.
Andrew has now been driven to Wood Farm, a smaller, more modest property on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, where he will reside while his permanent home at the nearby Marsh Farm undergoes refurbishments prior to his arrival. A secluded property situated close to the village of Wolferton, Wood Farm was previously used by his father, the late Prince Philip, as his main home when he exited public life. Andrew’s arrival, however, hasn’t gone down well with local residents.
A quiet lane became inundated with vehicles as members of the press descended on the village, accompanied by a helicopter overhead. Meanwhile, Andrew may not be moving into his new home until April.
An unidentified local woman said: “I think if he has to come and live here, it should be somewhere that’s quite secluded.
“There are houses that belong to the King that he could go to that wouldn’t cause anybody any bother. The press are all down there. The villagers don’t like that. It’s a quiet village.”
The woman suggested Andrew might be better suited to somewhere “out in the woods” and “surrounded by trees and no other houses”, with his current lodgings were “too close to the road.
She also pointed out that there would “always” be reporters, adding: “If he needs to come, he needs to come, but I think there’s better places he could have actually gone.
Members of the public also opened up about the move at the nearby Sandringham Visitor Centre. Abraham Bruin, 83, said: “I’m a little bit flabbergasted myself. If he’s an outcast and living on the estate, he’s not an outcast is he?”
A second unidentified woman said: “Really, he’s going back to luxury, isn’t he? He’s being waited on hand and foot.” It seems the negative comments were not in short supply, with another woman admitting that she’s “not particularly keen on him”.
She said: “I’m not happy he’s this way. As long as we don’t see him. He will be hid away somewhere. He will have all the things he needs. He’s still living in a certain amount of luxury.”
In a final scathing comment, another unnamed woman, who was “not enamoured” with the move, said: “They’re dumping their royal rubbish on us.”
It follows the US Department of Justice’s release of a fresh tranche of documents from the so-called Epstein Files, documents pertaining to the late sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing but has faced overwhelming scrutiny over his links to Epstein and was subsequently stripped of his titles, including the Duke of York.
His name has appeared numerous times in the latest batch of files, and an image has emerged, reportedly taken in Epstein’s New York mansion, appearing to show him crouched over an unidentified woman.
