King Charles III, who vows to serve his people till the las breath, has sparked debate with his one big announcement.
The 75-year-old monarch’s decision to share update on his cancer battle has triggered “deeper emotional connections” for the King, a royal commentator has claimed.
The monarch left the nation in shock as he made bombshell announcement about his cancer diagnosis in February earlier this year. The undisclosed type of cancer was discovered following corrective surgery for an enlarged prostate at the London Clinic in January.
The King’s former communications secretary has lauded Prince William and Harry’s dad for his public appearances even his battle with cancer still continues.
“People could see the King come and go during his illness and looking happy. That transparency has been so important. They had already accepted him as a head of state,” said Julian Payne.
In talks with the Daily Mail, he said: “Then they start to see him on his way to hospital or looking at his cards and they think about a family member with cancer.
“It opens up a deeper, emotional connection.”
Old university friend of the King, Lord Chartres said: “The interest in the Royal Family over the past year around the world shows that there are very few people with that international capacity to communicate.”
The former Bishop of London added: “The reputation of the monarchy over the past year has been vastly enhanced.”
Buckingham Palace has also released a statement announcing that King Charles would return to full royal duties with twice-yearly overseas tours next year, subject to doctor’s approvals.
It comes as the monarch returned to the UK following a successful tour of Australia and Samoa, his first international tour since his diagnosis. the Palace states: “His Majesty The King will shortly return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis.”
Months after King Charles’s revelation Kate Middleton, The Princess of Wales, also announced her cancer diagnosis.
In September, Princess Catherine delighted fans as she announced she had completed her chemotherapy.
In a video message, posted to her and Williams’ official social media accounts, Kate vowed to focus to remain cancer free, adding that she will gradually return to public life.
