AN emotional Jamie Murray has broken down in tears as he attempted to put his brother Andy’s career in context.
A video produced by the Lawn Tennis Association gives a candid view on the three-time Grand Slam winner’s illustrious career from the people who know him best.
Mum Judy, wife Kim and brother Jamie all feature in the clip – along with former British tennis hero and close friend Tim Henman.
Jamie is a top class doubles player in his own right who remains active even though he is older.
But he’s clearly emotional as he struggles to put into context his brother’s achievements – and the outpouring of support he received from fans in Scotland and beyond.
He said: “For me it’s just like seeing how much he has impacted people …. and that support that he has had.
It is not easy to do that, you know.
“Especially for us to be from a small country.
“The support he has had at Wimbledon and playing at Davis Cup matches.
“It is incredible and he has handled it so well … I don’t think people will understand the pressures that takes on him as he’s trying to achieve his goals I guess.
He has done amazing. Incredible, Incredible.”
Wife Kim also revealed one reason she’s keen for her man to make the tough decision to step back from the sport he loves – to assist with the school run for their four kids.
Asked what she would say to him at the end, Kim replied: “I’m proud of you – are we done now?
“It’s really hard. It’s a really hard decision to make.
“It’s never going to be easy for anyone ending any career, especially athletes.
“I just hope he is happy with the decision and he can get on and help me with the school run now.”
