It should not have happened: Prince Harry’s devastating six-word admission about Royal Family feud
Prince Harry said that his exit from the Royal Family four years ago “never needed” to happen.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, quit life as a working member of the family in 2020 after claiming that both he and his wife Meghan Markle, 43, wanted to become more independent.
The couple blamed their decision on press intrusion and relocated to Canada before setting up a permanent home in Montecito, California, where they have now been living in their mansion for the last four years.
However, although the couple are now reportedly happy and settled, the prince said in the docuseries Harry and Meghan, released in 2022, that he would have stayed as a member of the Royal Family forever if certain things had been resolved.
In episode five of the Netflix docuseries, Harry and Meghan reflected on their final week of royal engagements which saw them carry out five farewell events in five days in March 2020.

Speaking to the cameras, Harry and Meghan both reflected on the busy week and how they felt as they prepared to say goodbye to the UK.
Harry said: “It never needed to be this way. We talked about this over and over again sitting in the kitchen after these late-night engagements and saying we would have carried on doing this for the rest of our lives.”
As footage showed the couple sitting in the kitchen in formal wear and packing up their lives at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, Meghan admitted to the cameras that it was an “emotional” time for the couple.
She said: “We were sad we were leaving. That last week, it was bittersweet.”
Meghan also told the cameras that although she tried hard to be part of the family, she felt that her effort “just wasn’t good enough.
The couple’s exit from their royal duties is believed to have caused the first rifts between them and the family, which were only heightened by the couple’s later bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The couple’s Netflix series Harry and Meghan in 2022, followed by Harry’s memoir Spare in 2023, further added to these rifts.
It is thought that Prince Harry is still on speaking terms with his father King Charles, however, is no longer in contact with his brother Prince William despite William issuing a public birthday message to Harry on Sunday.
Rumours of Harry returning to royal life have also been shut down as sources say the prince is happy in California where he intends to stay.
