Buckingham Palace Issues Statement On Harry & Meghan’s Claims

Buckingham Palace has issued a statement in relation to the claims made by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The Duchess of Sussex revealed last night that concerns about how dark their son Archie’s skin might be had been raised before he was born.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace says “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. ”

Meghan also said she had suffered suicidal thoughts, but an appeal for help was turned down by the institution.

The Palace statement says “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.”

They have also explained the delay in issuing a statement, saying “It has been important for us to carefully consider any response before issuing; and of course releasing something today meant viewers in the UK had the opportunity to watch the interview, if they wished to, first.”

The statement closes by saying “Diversity, equality, inclusion and mental health are important issues and highlighting that has formed part of the work of Members of the Royal Family for many years.”

No further comment will be made by Buckingham Palace.
