Prince William and King Charles turned backs on inviting Prince Harry to royal gathering amid Meghan Markle feud
A royal author has claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were very unlikely to be invited to Balmoral to join King Charles and Prince William over the summer.
In a major snub to the pair, the monarch and his eldest son reportedly came together and decided things were just too complicated, with both the King and Princess Kate undergoing treatment for cancer.
It is currently understood the Sussexes will not be returning to the UK, despite some Royal commentators believing the family gathering in Scotland represented the perfect opportunity to extend an invite to Harry and Meghan.
Royal author Tom Quinn told the Daily Mirror the situation was the “last thing” the family needs.
Quinn said: “With Kate and Charles in a difficult place, the last thing the family needs is Harry at Balmoral. Everyone knows that it couldn’t be done without also inviting Meghan and that is a step too far.
“Meghan has always been seen as the main driving force behind Harry’s public attacks on the family. William and Charles know that inviting Harry without Meghan is just to give Harry another subject for the sequel to Spare that Harry is writing.”
It comes as there has been some speculation that Prince Harry is penning a tell-all memoir from 2023.
The Duke said shortly after the autobiography’s publication that “there could have been two books”, telling The Telegraph: “The hard bit was taking things out.”
The Scottish estate is one of deep personal connection for Prince William, as it was where he was when he found out his mother had died.
He once told the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland: “Scotland is a source of some of my happiest memories but also my saddest. I was in Balmoral when I was told that my mother had died.
“Still in shock, I found sanctuary in the service at Crathie Kirk that very morning and in the dark days of grief that followed I found comfort and solace in the Scottish outdoors.
“As a result, the connection I feel to Scotland will forever run deep. Alongside this painful memory is one of great joy, because it was here in Scotland 20 years ago this year that I first met Catherine.
Meanwhile, members of the Royal Family including Prince William, the King and the Queen will likely discuss recent events and the future of the monarchy while on holiday in Balmoral.
A potential “summit” could take place during the annual holiday to Scotland, where King Charles might have important conversations about the future direction of the Royal Family.
Jennie Bond told OK!: “I have no information that there is going to be a royal summit at Balmoral. But it would be slightly odd if the family were all together for once and didn’t mull over what has happened and how they proceed in the future.”
