Prince William and Princess Kate ‘ban mention of Harry and Meghan’ as they leave country
Prince William and Princess Kate have reportedly put a “self-imposed ban” on discussing Prince Harry and Meghan as they head to Balmoral for their summer holidays
The Prince and Princess of Wales are currently enjoying some downtime at the Royal Family’s Scottish residence with the children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and six-year-old Prince Louis. They have joined King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Princess Anne for the getaway.
Insiders have now told Heat magazine that William is concerned his brother and sister-in-law will cause “undue stress” for his family. Harry’s interview in the US, in which he brands the UK “dangerous” is thought to have dashed any hopes of a reconciliation between the feuding siblings, Heat says.
The source said: “Kate and William have put a self-imposed ban on anything Meghan and Harry-related, as they take time out to enjoy some much-needed respite and family time this summer. Kate’s still very much focussing on her healing, and they decided to create a firm boundary to protect her from all the stress and upset Harry and Meghan create, which understandably has a negative impact on her physical health, as well as mental health.
The insider says William was concerned his wife would feel “anxious” about Harry and Meghan saying something that could upset her. The Duchess of Sussex and Princess of Wales have reportedly had a strained relationship ever since Meghan was introduced to the Royal Family.
The situation is said to have escalated in the run-up to Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018. According to Harry’s explosive memoir Spare, the pair had a disagreement over Charlotte’s flower girl dress.
Harry claims the pair had an exchange over text message that left Meghan “on the floor sobbing”. The following day Kate is said to have sent Meghan flowers and a card apologising.
Meanwhile Harry and William’s own feud escalated in 2019 when Harry claimed that his brother grabbed him by the collar and knocked him to the floor during a heated argument about Meghan.
A year later Harry and Meghan quit royal life and moved their family to Montecito, California, USA. Harry recently revealed he won’t be returning to the UK with Meghan, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three because it’s “still dangerous”.
He said: “It’s still dangerous, and all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff to act on what they have read. Whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is—and these are things that are of genuine concern for me. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country.
