“Hardest time” – Ben Shelton reveals how he & Trinity Rodman are dealing with difficult chapter in their relationship
American tennis star Ben Shelton recently opened up about his relationship with US soccer star Trinity Rodman. The ATP World No. 4 revealed how the couple is dealing with a difficult chapter in their relationship and reflected on the complicated nature of their time together.
Shelton and Rodman are one of America’s biggest sporting power couples. The former is the nation’s leading men’s singles player on the ATP Tour, with the highlights of his career including a runner-up finish at the 2026 US Open and two back-to-back title finishes at the National Bank Open. Meanwhile, Rodman’s time on the soccer field has seen her lead Team USA to an Olympic gold medal, while also helping the Washington Spirit clinch a NWSL title.
Recently, in an interview with Us Magazine, Ben Shelton reflected on his relationship with Trinity Rodman, saying,
“It is really difficult. I think what a lot of people don’t see is when we actually do have time or a couple of days off, we’re so exhausted that it’s tough to do anything. We make a lot of sacrifices for our sport. I’d say both of us are chasing things for our sport. We’re not where we want to be yet, we’re not in our primes. So this is kind of crunch time.”
He went on to explain that this period would be the ‘most gruelling’ time in their relationship, adding,
“This is going to be the hardest, most grueling time in our relationship, from my perspective. None of it is easy. But being able to have someone to lean on who’s such an elite athlete and doing things at a really high level as well, it helps in so many ways.”
Shelton and Rodman began dating in early 2025. The couple made their relationship public in March that same year and have since given fans regular glimpses into their life together.
