Just In: Lleyton Hewitt’s wife ‘fed up’ with husband’s friendship with Roger Federer
Roger Federer and Lleyton Hewitt’s close friendship is bothering the latter’s wife, Bec, according to reports. Hewitt and Federer have formed a close bond ever since their respective retirements in 2016 and 2022.
It was recently reported Hewitt’s son, Cruz, has started dating Federer’s twin daughter Myla. As a result, the two Wimbledon icons have been spending a lot more time with each other than they had done in the past. So much so, that Bec is believed to be growing frustrated at how often they are seeing each other. Federer and Hewitt were acquaintances when they were both competing, but their friendship now is understood to be significantly closer.
A source close to Hewitt’s other half recently said to Nowtolove.com: “Bec is over it. She understands why Lleyton feels the need to be close to them, especially with Cruz’s career taking off. But it’s becoming a bit much Roger and his family come up in conversation constantly.”
Due to Federer and Hewitt not being particularly close during their career, the amount of time they’re spending with each other is being noticed by those within their circle. Cruz is also emerging as a promising player on the professional tennis tour, with the 17-year-old recently securing his first career ATP Tour main draw victory.
He made a splash by reaching the boys singles final at Wimbledon in July 2026, only to lose to Jordan Lee 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. Cruz certainly has two world class mentors behind him in Federer and Hewitt, who boast 23 Grand Slam titles between them.
It’s also been reported Cruz may soon decide to base himself in Switzerland to remain close to Myla. It’s perhaps this reason why Hewitt has been working to form a friendship with the Swiss maestro.
Nevertheless, Bec is still purported to be rather perturbed by the time he is spending. The insider also added: “Lleyton seems determined to build a proper friendship with the Federers.”
Federer was recently inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame Class of 2026, five years after his last official match. He was introduced by his wife Mirka, whose speech reduced the tennis great to tears.
