Tiger Woods Mocked ‘Not Good Enough’ by Fans Despite Positive Updates Before…

Tiger Woods hasn’t had the best of comebacks so far. From his return to the game at the 2023 Hero World Challenge to his recent outing at Pinehurst No. 2, the golfer has failed to impress his fans. As a result, they don’t seem to trust the athlete to have a scintillating performance on the greens at the upcoming event at Royal Troon.

A tweet was shared by TWLEGION mentioning how Woods is not expected to play any holes on Wednesday. The post also pointed out the improvement in his skills and gameplay before divulging the time he is set to give a press conference; “Tiger not currently slated to play holes tomorrow per tee times. Already did 18 on Sunday and 9 today. Word is that there has been plenty of good from his practice so far – but you’ve all heard that every major. Meeting media tomorrow at 6 AM ET / 11 local.”

The 48-year-old’s best finish this year came at the 2024 Masters Tournament. He had placed himself at T60 on Sunday after successfully making the cut after Friday. The golfer, meanwhile, missed the cut at the other two majors and pulled out of the Genesis Invitational due to an illness. The community couldn’t forget the same, which caused them to vent out their frustrations under the tweet.

Netizens predict a ‘Missed Cut’ for Tiger Woods at the Open Championship
Throughout his career, which has spanned more than 28 years, including his amateur one, the golfer has made a total of 22 starts at the Open Championship. Out of the same, he has missed the cut four times, the last of which came in 2022. A fan forecasted the number increasing to five as they commented, “MC. TAKING that to the Rack!$$$$,” while another responded, “T He’ll wake up with a stiff back, be sore because of the cold weather, battle it out and prob miss the cut. Just write it every major lol.”

Even though Tiger Woods made the cut at the 2024 Masters, he did so while battling a lot of pain in his back. The pro had carded a score of 1-over par after the second round but fell down the leaderboard to the 60th spot after the final two rounds. Moreover, he was spotted wearing adhesive patches on his back to alleviate the pain that the professional was facing. A follower alluded to the same while replying to the tweet: “Love Tiger, the dude got me into golf in the 90’s, but he’s gonna WD with ‘back pain’ after shooting 79 in Rd 1.”

Although Tiger Woods had expressed his desire to play one event per month, he couldn’t do so after withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational in February. Since then, the athlete has only made a total of three starts, all of which came at the majors. This is a stark contrast to Scottie Scheffler or Rory McIlroy, both of whom have made 15 and 14 starts, respectively. A couple of fans hinted at the same while responding, “He’s simply not good enough at this point to be competitive,” and “Wow, he played 27 whole practice holes? Meanwhile, everyone else has been playing competitively week after week. Love Tiger, but he has zero chance of ever competing again.”

While all is said and done, Tiger Woods will surely hope to dish out a scintillating performance at the last major of the year. Especially so, since he had revealed it to be his last one of the season during the press conference on Friday at the 2024 U.S. Open.
