The relationship between the former Prince Andrew, his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, and their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, has been a major topic of interest ever since the latest family controversy.
The disgraced royal has been stripped of his titles and evicted from his home at Royal Lodge. Now, he’s under investigation on suspicion of misconduct in public office and sex crimes. Meanwhile, reports about Fergie‘s close relationship with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein continue.
What does that mean for the former Duke and Duchess of York’s relationship with their daughters? Well, for Fergie, it’s reportedly been a little complicated. A source close to the family recently told RadarOnline, “Sarah is doing her best to keep her footing, but the reality is that she has been pushed into a deeply unsettled place and is having to rely on the people she trusts most. At the moment, that means her daughters, because they are the only ones who can really be counted on to understand what she is going through.”
The source added, “It is an emotionally bruising situation, but it is also very practical – Sarah needs somewhere stable to live, some reassurance about money, and a plan for what comes next. Without that, the uncertainty just hangs over everything, and that is what is frightening her most.”
Fergie has reportedly been staying with different friends the last few months, but would love something more permanent. “Beatrice and Eugenie are devoted to their mother, and they clearly want to help where they can, but their own lives are already full, and they cannot simply step in and solve everything. They both have careers, families and obligations that make this far more complicated than a quick fix,” another source said.
There’s also the fact that, financially, things have been difficult for Fergie. “Charles has already gone a long way toward reducing the uncertainty around the family, but this remains one of the more difficult private problems tied to the very public history of the Yorks. He can shape the atmosphere and make his expectations clear, but he cannot personally untangle every housing issue that lands on the wider family’s doorstep. Sarah is basically left in the very uncomfortable position of begging her daughters for help.”
All of this comes after Princess Eugenie chose to have her third child in Portugal, and reports that both Andrew and Fergie had been banned from the delivery room.
“Eugenie’s number one priority is having this baby with the absolute minimum of fuss,” a source told the National Examiner in July 2026. “She doesn’t want the hospital turning into a circus and she’s made that very clear.”
Andrew and Fergie were allegedly very upset by their daughter’s decision. “Andrew is fuming and taking it as a personal insult,” the insider said. “He doesn’t seem to care that if he’s there it will become the main focus, which is the last thing Eugenie wants.”
