“Gone Far Too Soon” — Golf Fans Left Heartbroken as Australian Golf Star Jessica Bang Dies at Just 18, Leaving the Sport in Mourning Over the Tragic Loss of a Promising Young Talent
Rising Australian golf-star Jessica Bang has passed away at the age of 18 following a sudden medical emergency in Bangkok, Thailand.
Tragic medical emergency
Bang collapsed on August 1 while preparing for the KLPGA Tour International Qualifying Tournament. She was rushed to Synphat Ramintra Hospital in Bangkok, where doctors discovered she had suffered a severe brain hemorrhage.
Despite undergoing emergency brain surgery and spending nearly two weeks in intensive care on life support, she passed away on Thursday surrounded by her family.
Rising star’s brief career
Known affectionately in golfing circles as “Rookie Bang,” the teenager turned professional in late 2025. She made an immediate impact on the sport earlier this year by winning her first professional title at the Moss Vale regional qualifiers in February, setting a new course record during her fifth professional start.
Tributes from golf community
The golfing world has been deeply shaken by her passing. In an official statement, the WPGA Tour of Australasia shared that:
“Jessica was an outstanding young talent who made a significant impression in her short time on the Tour,” adding that “the thoughts and prayers of everyone at the WPGA Tour of Australasia and the broader Australian golf community are with Jessica’s family, friends and all those who knew and loved her at this incredibly difficult time.”
Family remembering her legacy
Her family had initially launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with overseas medical bills. Her cousins Summer and Amelia later updated the page, writing:
“We are truly heartbroken by this news. However, we would like to continue to remember Jessica and celebrate her achievements, passion and dedication to golf.”
