Carlos Alcaraz Garfia was born on May 5, 2003, in El Palmar, Murcia, Spain.
His father, Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez, was a former professional tennis player and director of a local tennis club, and he introduced his son to the sport from a young age. Alcaraz’s grandfather, Gonzalez’s father, also played a role in developing the sport in the region.
Today, Alcaraz splits his time between his family home in El Palmar, Murcia, and a 970-square-foot wooden house on the grounds of the Equelite Sport Complex in Villena.

Alcaraz grew up training at the Equelite Sport Complex and didn’t have the sort of extensive amateur career as many of his contemporaries, playing a limited junior ITF circuit between the ages of 11 and 14.
Carlos Alcaraz’s Professional Career
Alcaraz turned professional in 2018 at age 14 and began playing on the ITF and Challenger circuits. He won his first ATP Challenger title in 2020 at the JC Ferrero Challenger Open in Alicante, becoming one of the youngest players to win a Challenger event.
