The influencer, 28, and tennis pro Taylor Fritz, 28, broke up in April after nearly six years together. PEOPLE exclusively confirmed the news after Riddle shared an Instagram post that included a photo of her in a “World’s Best Ex-Girlfriend” T-shirt.
In the weeks since their breakup became public, the content creator has shared several social media posts alluding to “heartbreak” and her new, single life. On Monday, June 8, Riddle opened up about her latest chapter in an interview with Elle, during which she admitted that she didn’t know how to tell the world that she and Fritz called it off.
When public relationships end, it’s standard to do some sort of Instagram statement or video, and I tried to write that a few times and I was just like, ‘This is not me,’” Riddle said in the interview. The former tennis WAG added that she and her ex are “on good terms.”
Looking ahead toward what she wants her next romance to look like, Riddle told Elle she’s looking for a number of specific qualities in a partner, like “political alignment, shared life goals, intellectual intimacy.” However, she said she’s ruling out one key trait: “I’ll never date an athlete again,” she told the outlet.
At the time when PEOPLE confirmed the news of their split, one source said that Riddle ended their relationship, while another source claimed the split was mutual.
Fritz and Riddle began dating in June 2020, and the influencer quickly took to living on the sidelines of professional tennis, announcing on TikTok that it was her mission to make “tennis cool again” in a video that quickly went viral. Riddle dealt with some backlash from the video, but Fritz was quick to defend his then-girlfriend.
“I think what she did was awesome for our sport. It got a ton of people looking at it. I think you get your typical older fan who may be upset about it,” he said.
Fritz added at the time, “I don’t understand how anyone can get upset about it. I’m the one that’s a professional tennis player, I’m the one that does this for a living. I 100 percent agree with everything in that video,” Fritz explained during a press conference at the 2022 Indian Wells Masters tournament.
