“Massively f**ked up my spine” – Sebastian Korda gets ominous warning from tennis insider after back surgery reveal

Sebastian Korda recently underwent back surgery after being sidelined for four months due to severe sciatic nerve pain. His last outing was at the fourth round of the Miami Open in March 2026.

On Saturday, the American tennis player announced that he underwent a procedure performed by Dr. Qureshi to relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve. Korda thanked Dr. Qureshi and his team and stated that he is now focused on his recovery and rehabilitation, writing:

“It’s been 4 months off-court managing pain in my back with a lot of pressure on my sciatica. After different treatments we decided to have a swift surgery that has finally relieved the pain. What a relief. Massive thank you to Dr. Qureshi and his team. Now it is time to recover, heal and get back to work.”

However, a tennis insider, Jessica Schiffer, who writes at The New York Times, made a shocking revelation, stating that the particular surgeon convinced her to get a surgery done at age 32 even though MRI scans showed it wasn’t necessary. She highlighted that the surgery made her condition worse and has lingering effects, even after three years.

“Unfun fact—this surgeon massively fucked up my spine after convincing me to get neck surgery at age 32 when there was not a single thing on my MRIs indicating it was necessary. Still in worse pain three years later. He has endless horrible reviews it boggles my mind that so many athletes, including Tiger Woods, see him.”

Sebastian Korda has a 12-6 record so far this year
