Carlos Alcaraz has stunned fans with his new look ahead of a potential comeback at the US Open. The Spaniard has been absent from recent tennis tournaments due to a wrist injury sustained at the Barcelona Open.
Alcaraz missed both the French Open and Wimbledon due to this issue but is building towards a return in America. Meanwhile, one prominent women’s star has confirmed her withdrawal from Flushing Meadows ahead of its start next month.

Alcaraz is well known for switching up his hairstyle but his distinct cornrow look has blown the minds of his fans. The Spaniard has enjoyed plenty of unique looks, buzzing his hair off at last year’s US Open and earning comparisons to a young David Beckham.
The 23-year-old bleached his short hair blonde before the Laver Cup before letting it grow out to his natural brunette in time for the 2026 season beginning. After winning the Australian Open and pulling out of various tournaments due to injury, Alcaraz returned to his roots with a long, floppy look.
This was the same haircut he kept for the World Cup final, where he watched his beloved Spain triumph over Argentina to secure the coveted trophy. However, fans have spotted the tennis star sporting cornrows in an Instagram post.
This snap was one of 16 pictures included in the ‘Insta dump’ but fans were most shocked by this photo. One dubbed the look the “unexpected hairstyle of the summer.”
Another added: ” For 2 hot seconds… I thought I was looking at a young Drake, sorry Carlos, but glad you’re enjoying the summer.” A third joked: “From Blondecaraz to Cornrowlitos, he keeps tennis stylish & fun!”
Fans also referenced his highly-anticipated return to tennis while complimenting his new look. One said: ” Can’t wait to see you and the braids back on court.”

Star who defeated Serena Williams pulls out of US Open
Ajla Tomljanovic has pulled out of the US Open, citing minor injuries that coincided with a ‘tough’ season. The 33-year-old announced on social media that she will not be competing at Flushing Meadows next month and is committed to preparing for the 2027 season.
Writing on Instagram, the Australian said: ” It has been a tough year battling minor injuries, so I’ve decided to end my season earlier than planned to be healthy and ready for 2027.”
Due to her withdrawal, German tennis star Ella Seidel has been entered into the main draw. Tomljanovic is best known for her victory over Serena Williams in 2022, sending the Olympian crashing out of the US Open in the third round.
This would be Williams’ final match before her initial retirement, and the Australian paid homage to her after the victory. She said: “I’m feeling really sorry, just because I love Serena just as much as you guys do. And what she’s done for me, for the sport of tennis, is incredible… she is the greatest of all time.
