Lewis Hamilton’s ‘careless mistakes’

The Sky Sports commentator revealed on the F1 Show that Hamilton accelerated ‘five metres’ too early, which was enough to exceed the pit lane speed limit by 0.1km/h.

He was surprised with the most successful and second most experienced F1 driver.

Croft said, “Lewis is making careless mistakes. I’m told it was five metres early. He released the button five metres too early, apparently. He still should have been watching in his mirrors, I’m sorry. He was the first driver to start a lap, therefore he should have known that other drivers would have been starting a lap as he was finishing.”

“You can’t throw away positions by making these sort of mistakes. I don’t want to go too hard on Lewis, I think he’s the greatest of all time, but these are not moments that a driver of his ability and experience should be making,” he added.

Hamilton enters the summer break 50 points behind Antonelli in the championship. He has been one of the standout drivers of the year so far, but has perhaps missed opportunities to put his Mercedes successor under more pressure.
