Just In: Alex Eala Overjoyed as She Is Confirmed for the 2026 US Open Main Draw
Filipino tennis star Alexandra Eala is headed back to the US Open after earning a place in the tournament’s main draw entry list for this year’s edition scheduled from Aug. 30 to Sept. 13 in New York.
Eala will compete alongside many of the sport’s biggest names, including reigning champion Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek, Jessica Pegula, Elena Rybakina, and Mirra Andreeva.
The tournament will mark the second time the 21-year-old Filipina will play in the US Open main draw. During her debut last year, she achieved a breakthrough by winning her first-ever Grand Slam main draw match after defeating Denmark’s Clara Tauson.
Before returning to Flushing Meadows, Eala is set to take part in three hard-court tournaments in North America. Her schedule includes the DC Open, followed by the Canadian Open in Toronto and the Cincinnati Open as part of her preparations for the season’s final Grand Slam.
Eala enters the US Open following one of the strongest campaigns of her professional career.
On grass, she captured the Birmingham Open title and advanced to the semifinals of the Berlin Tennis Open before reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon, where she recorded the biggest Grand Slam result of her career.
Earlier in the season, she also reached the quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships and the Abu Dhabi Open, while making the Round of 16 in both the Indian Wells Open and the Miami Open.
Although she suffered an opening-round exit at both the Australian Open and the French Open, Eala has steadily climbed the world rankings through a series of deep runs in WTA events.
She now looks to build on last year’s breakthrough performance as she returns to Flushing Meadows aiming for another strong showing against the world’s top-ranked players.
