Victoria Beckham is getting real about parenting.
In a new interview with U.K. newspaper The Times, the fashion designer spoke about the four children she shares with her former soccer star husband, David, 51 — Brooklyn, 27, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21 and Harper, 14.
There’s a big difference between supporting children with what they want to do and forcing them,” she said of her approach to being a mom, adding, “all we’ve ever done with any of the children is support them, help them and encourage them.
Victoria, 52, continued that she was so “proud” that each of her kids had “found what they love,” along with “their passion and their sense of purpose.”
But she went on to note that she and David don’t push them into roles.
‘The three boys used to play football [soccer] and one by one they decided it wasn’t for them and that’s okay, whatever makes them happy,” the fashion designer said, adding, “’I just want them to feel fulfilled.”
However, the former singer does concede that her children are in a “very fortunate” position to be able to pursue their dreams, revealing that she encourages them to “dream big and dream even bigger,” per The Times.
While Brooklyn is a culinary content creator and launched his own hot sauce, Cloud23, in 2024, Romeo is a model and Cruz is the frontman of his band, Cruz Beckham and The Breakers.
Victoria has previously touched on her approach to parenting during an appearance on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast earlier this month.
“I think that it’s very different parenting adult children to parenting smaller children,” the star said during the episode. “I’m just trying to do the best that I can,” while discussing how public scrutiny had shaped the type of mom that she is.
Victoria later added, “We don’t put any pressure on our kids, we just want them to do what they love and to work hard and to be happy.
The entrepreneur and beauty mogul also told Grede that in many ways the Beckhams are a “traditional family” who eat dinner together each evening and talk about their day, adding, “Being very close is really, really important to us.”
Victoria also said that “communication is really key” to her parenting style, noting that she’s “always wanted to be the best mom that I could be.”
Victoria’s latest comments about her parenting philosophy come amid the family’s ongoing estrangement with their eldest son, Brooklyn.
Victoria has stayed mostly quiet since Brooklyn accused her and David of trying to sabotage his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, and spreading “countless lies” in a series of critical posts on his social media at the start of this year.
Among his claims, Brooklyn said his parents tried to “endlessly ruin” his relationship with Nicola as well as trying to “bribe” him into “signing away the rights” to his name. Brooklyn also claimed that Victoria “hijacked” his wedding dance with Nicola.
“I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” Brooklyn said in the January Instagram Stories posts.
