Revealed: Two royals who always hated Sarah Ferguson – ‘They rumbled her!
There were two members of the Royal Family who “hated” Sarah Ferguson according to royal author, Andrew Lownie. While Sarah was not thought to be popular with many members of the Firm, Mr Lownie revealed surprising stories behind why certain royals felt the way they did when it came to Fergie in an updated chapter of his bombshell book.
During his recent appearance on the Daily Expresso show, Mr Lownie revealed it was Prince Philip and Prince Edward who “rumbled” Sarah. Speaking to host, JJ Anisiobi, the author said: “Philip and Edward both rumbled her very early on. Edward didn’t invite her to his wedding, and Philip would have nothing to do with her.
“In fact, he would leap over sofas to avoid her, even in his 80s, if she came into the room. It was the only time they were together, which was at the birth of a grandchild, and he was there.
Mr Lownie went on: “Otherwise, he thought she was appalling. She really undermined the Royal Family’s reputation; they stood for very different things. He was all about duty, and she’s all about pleasure.”
According to the updated version of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, which will be released on May 21, Sarah often spoke about “having messed up her relationship with [Princess] Diana and about her love of the [late] Queen”, but is thought to have hated Philip and Edward.
Writing about the claim in his new book, Lownie said: “The assistant saw little of Andrew, who was so foul the staff walked on eggshells when he was around. The two daughters, she felt, were very much under the control of their mother but embarrassed by her behaviour.
“Sarah talked endlessly about having messed up her relationship with Diana and about her love of the Queen – she hated Philip and Edward – and her parents.”
He then added: “The assistant was struck by her immaturity. ‘She wanted to go back to childhood … She had this constant need to be wanted, with the result that she had no boundaries.
Elsewhere during his interview with the Daily Expresso, the author made the shocking claim that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor once made a request for “16-year-old blondes” to be present during the opening of Peter de Savary’s luxurious Bahamian golf course and resort. It is not clear what Andrew requested their presence for, or if they were in attendance.
He told the show: “Well, we’ve kind of had a hint of this before in the hardback,” Mr Lownie said during his appearance on the podcast. “When he was in South Africa, he asked the consul there, or rather, his secretary said he likes blondes. And the diplomat said, I’m a diplomat, not a pimp.
“And here we’ve got him being paid to open a golf course in the Bahamas owned by Sir Peter de Savary. And a whole series of requests that go in. He has things like not liking music and not liking lifts. He likes lukewarm water to drink.”
Mr Anisiobi replied in shock: “And this was a request for a sixteen-year-old blonde? I cannot believe that.”
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has vehemently denied all the accusations against him.
