Prince William hints at his bitter rivalry with Prince Harry: ‘I’ve lost the…

Prince William made a subtle reference to his estranged brother Prince Harry as he met with fans at a sporting event.

The Prince of Wales visited Sporting Khalsa FC in England on Tuesday where he made a light-hearted joke about his desire for red hair, seemingly in a reference to Harry who is known for his ginger hair color. William greeted fans at the Aspray Arena when he spotted a woman in the crowd with red hair.

“Your hair! It’s fantastic!” he shouted to her. William then hinted at his rivalry with his brother as he joked, “I wish I had hair like that! You look amazing. I’ve lost the chance.

The red hair gene runs deep in the royal family, with Harry’s two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet also sporting bright ginger hair.

Hair has been an issue for Harry and William before, with a decision over facial hair reportedly leading to one of many rows between the pair. Harry has sported a full beard for years, while William has tended to go for a clean-shaven look.

In his bombshell memoir Spare, Harry claimed his brother had instructed him to shave his beard for his wedding to Meghan Markle and accused William of being jealous. The revelations led to #beardgate trending on social media.

Harry explained how he had asked the late Queen Elizabeth for permission to keep his beard. He was given the okay despite being dressed in military uniform, a privilege not afforded to William when he married Kate Middleton.

“And yet I now dared to make another ask – Granny, please, may I, for my wedding, keep my beard? Not a small ask either. A beard was thought by some to be a clear violation of protocol and long-standing norms, especially since I was getting married in my Army uniform. Beards were forbidden in the British Army,” Harry explained in his memoir.

When William found out Harry would be allowed to keep his beard, the Duke of Sussex described him as “livid.” It’s believed William fumed to his brother, “You put her in an uncomfortable position, Harold! She had no choice but to say yes.

The argument lasted for more than a week, according to Harry. The Duke of Sussex claimed to have told William, “For the love of God, Willy, why does this matter so much to you?”

In response, William said, “Because I wasn’t allowed to keep my beard.” Harry wrote, “After he’d come back from an assignment with Special Forces, Willy was sporting a full beard, and someone told him to be a good boy, run along and shave it. He hated the idea of me enjoying a perk he’d been denied.
