SAD NEWS: Queen Camilla burst into Tears as she Opens up on ‘horrid’ backlash she received over King Charles relationship…

Queen Camilla once opened up on what her life was like after she rekindled her relationship with King Charles.

Queen Camilla and King Charles (then Prince Charles) reportedly had a secret love affair in the 1980s, while they were both married.

When news of their romance was revealed to the world years later, it was a very difficult time for her.

In a personal interview in 2017, years before becoming Queen Consort, Camilla found herself opening up to the Daily Mail about what that time of her life was really like.

Queen Camilla and King Charles’ turbulent relationship

The king and queen recently celebrated their 20th marriage anniversary. But in reality, their love story started in the 1970s.

They briefly dated, before Charles headed off to the Navy. During this time, Camilla moved on with Andrew Parker Bowles who she went on to marry in 1973.

Charles went on to marry Princess Diana in 1981, and Camilla continued her own marriage to Andrew Parker-Bowles. But Charles and Camilla seemingly couldn’t resist each other and ultimately began a second affair in 1986 (with their first alleged affair happening in the late 70s), according to reports.

It was a deeply unpleasant time and I wouldn’t want to put my worst enemy through it.

Diana and Charles had their sons Prince William and Prince Harry – and Camilla had her own children with Andrew, and so the fallout of the affair got quite messy.

In 1992, Charles and Diana separated after the princess confronted Camilla at a party. Two years later, Camilla and Andrew also divorced. However, they were reportedly living apart for several years.

In 1999, Charles and Camilla made their first public outing as a couple at Camilla’s sister Annabel’s birthday party. And now, it seems when news got out that they were together after the affair, Camilla found herself stuck indoors.

Queen Camilla on aftermath of Charles relationship
For a while, the entire nation was gripped by the affair news. And many took Diana’s side, which left Camilla without many places to go.

Speaking about the press scrutiny she received at that time, Camilla told the Daily Mail: “It was horrid. It was a deeply unpleasant time and I wouldn’t want to put my worst enemy through it. I couldn’t have survived it without my family.

Instead of leaving her house, she spent her days learning how to paint and reading quite a lot, in order to pass the time quicker.

But there were people who continued to check in on her – her children along with her sister and brother. Camilla explained that she still speaks to her sister, Annabel everyday on the phone, but her brother, Mark, sadly died in 2014.

Camilla confessed that while she doesn’t think she’s “tough”, she believes she’s a “strong character.

She said: “You have to be. But I think it also comes from my upbringing. We were brought up in a very happy family and I can’t whinge about my childhood because it was idyllic.

Camilla on coping with difficult situations
While the paparazzi used to hide in her garden, Camilla’s kids used to make a game of counting how many they could spot with binoculars.

During the interview, Camilla also revealed how she maintains a sense of humour through difficult times.

Camilla said: “You’ve got to laugh through most things, and sometimes I do laugh a bit too much. There are situations where it’s very difficult not to lose it completely, especially, you know, if something goes terribly wrong and everybody sits there for a split second [not sure how to react]. You do have to swallow and pinch yourself very hard to not laugh.
