Just In: Prince William and Princess Kate interrupt Easter break to make ‘exciting’ announcement

The Prince and Princess of Wales have interrupted their holiday break to issue a new message ahead of an “exciting” event taking place this weekend. Prince William and Princess Catherine took to their official X account ahead of the Women’s Six Nations Champioship which begins tomorrow, Saturday, April 11 and will last until May 17.

William is patron of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) and has regularly attended both men’s and women’s fixtures, whereas Catherine is patron of both the Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League. The English team will face the Welsh team “head to head” on Saturday, April 25.

In their message on X, the Waleses shared a post published by World Rugby with the message: “As the Women’s Six Nations gets underway this weekend, wishing all the players and support staff the best of luck! [England and Wales flag emojis].

Here’s to an exciting start to the tournament and some unforgettable rugby.”

They signed the post with their initials: “W & C.”

The future King and Queen are understood to be taking some time away from public engagement as they spent family quality time with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who are off school for their Easter holidays.

The Wales children all attend Lambrook School and they are set to return this Monday, April 13, according to Bracknell Forest Council.

Last week, they were all pictured joining the rest of the royals at the annual Easter Matins church service in Windsor.

It’s believed that the couple’s sons enjoy rugby and play it at school, but Charlotte doesn’t.

In January, Catherine revealed during a visit to West Yorkshire: “She [Charlotte] does loads of sport but not rugby.”

She also joked with the group about the physicality of rugby league, saying: “There’s not any other sport when you can say contact is a good thing
