Meghan Markle has shared her own experiences of heartbreak while offering some comforting words to her friend, according to a source.
The Duchess of Sussex is believed to be supporting Jessica Alba as she’s in the middle of a divorce from her husband of 17 years, Cash Warren. The actress filed for divorce from Cash last week.
Meghan has her own experience of divorce, having previously been married to Trevor Engelson. The pair tied the knot in 2011 before splitting two years later and finalizing their divorce in 2014. Now, a source has claimed Meghan has bravely opened up about the split and offered some advice to Jessica.
Meghan and Jessica are believed to have met at Kerry Washington’s birthday party. The source claimed Meghan “used her experience of her own marriage breakdown and divorce as an opportunity to bond.
The source said Meghan waited until the party attendees had drank some wine before opening up to Jessica. “She told her how sorry she was and opened up about her split from Trevor and confessed how difficult she’d found it to finally make the call to end their marriage,” the source told Closer.
The former Suits actress is then believed to have given some advice to Jessica, urging the actress to “trust her gut.” The source explained Meghan had found that the “heartache wasn’t worth existing in a marriage that didn’t fulfil her.
They also pointed out how she has gone on to make a happier life for herself. The Duchess of Sussex is now happily married to Prince Harry and the pair share two children together – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
During the chat, Meghan is said to have talked about how unhappy she had been before moving to Canada to film Suits. The source said she had “tormented herself” with the idea of a divorce for months.
