Prince William and Kate have a plan to keep Charlotte and Louis from feeling like George’s…

As the direct heir to the throne after his father, Prince William, and grandfather, King Charles III, Prince George, now 11, is being quietly prepared for the monumental responsibility that awaits him. However, this raises an important question on what the future holds for Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

The topic has gained prominence following Harry’s revelations in his 2023 memoir, Spare. The Duke of Sussex was candid about his struggles as the younger brother of a future king, describing himself as the “shadow” or “Plan B” in the royal family’s hierarchy.

A new era for Royal siblings

Royal author Phil Dampier suggests that unlike Harry, Charlotte and Louis could take on significant roles within the monarchy as they grow older.
With the royal family already appearing “thin on the ground,” he argues that the younger Wales children may play key roles in supporting their older brother, George, once he becomes king.

“He [George] is the future King, but the way things are going, Charlotte and Louis may have major roles in the future,” Dampier told Fabulous.
He also emphasized the key difference between Harry’s experience and that of the younger Wales children.

“Prince Harry always felt like ‘The Spare,’ but perhaps that won’t happen with Charlotte and Louis, as there are two of them and they will support each other, as well as George,” he added.

Unlike their uncle, who often felt isolated in his role, Charlotte and Louis have the benefit of growing up together, knowing they will likely share the responsibilities of modernizing and assisting the monarchy.

At present, George, Charlotte, and Louis are still too young to carry out formal royal duties, but they have already made several public appearances at major royal events, such as Trooping the Colour and the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

Despite their status, their parents have worked hard to ensure they have as normal a childhood as possible. The siblings all attend Lambrook School in Berkshire, a prestigious yet relaxed preparatory school that encourages extracurricular activities and independence.
