Meghan Markle makes brutal dig at Kate Middleton and shares awkward nickname in viral video

Meghan Markle has gone viral on TikTok thanks to a video of her discussing a harsh nickname given to Kate Middleton.

The Duchess of Sussex, who sat down with Prince Harry for a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, is seen in the clip reflecting on her treatment in comparison to Kate’s. Meghan shed some light on Kate’s nickname Waity Katie.

Kate was given the cruel name when she started dating Prince William, seemingly ridiculing the long wait for William’s proposal. Speaking to Oprah, Meghan said, “Kate was called Waity Katie, waiting to marry William. While I imagine that was really hard, and I do, I can’t picture what that felt like… this is not the same.

Fans have flooded the comments section of the TikTok clip, with many rallying behind Kate, noting her future role as Queen. One pointed out, “She was worth the wait and soon to become our future Queen [which is] a role she will honour.”

Another focused on Kate’s prospective title, “And she’ll be called Queen Catherine.” Someone else fumed, “It’s Catherine for you.”

A fourth person pointed out, “Yes but turned out really good for her she did marry the future king and she is going to be a queen.” Someone else added, “Kate is unmatched.”

Not included in the video, Meghan finished her conversation with Oprah by highlighting a significant distinction, “If a member of his [Harry’s] family will comfortably say we’ve all had to deal with things that are rude. Rude and racist are not the same.”

After previously describing herself as “one of the most bullied people in the world,”, a royal expert has drawn parallels to what Kate experienced during her early days. Royal commentator Jennie Bond told The Mirror, “I applaud the efforts that Meghan and Harry are making to help make the digital world a safer place especially for young people. And I am truly sorry that Meghan was subjected to abuse and bullying during her pregnancies and beyond.”

She added, “No-one should have to read disgusting abuse like that at any point in their lives. Sadly, though, Meghan is not alone in being bullied.”
